At Softmask, we are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website and cloud storage service.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By accessing or using our Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by all the terms of this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect several different types of information for various purposes to provide and improve our Service to you:

The files and content you store on Softmask are encrypted before they leave your device. We cannot access the actual content of your files. We store only encrypted data along with necessary metadata to provide the Service.

Softmask uses the collected data for various purposes:

  • To provide and maintain our Service
  • To notify you about changes to our Service
  • To allow you to participate in interactive features of our Service when you choose to do so
  • To provide customer support
  • To gather analysis or valuable information so that we can improve our Service
  • To monitor the usage of our Service
  • To detect, prevent and address technical issues
  • To process payments for premium subscriptions

3. Data Storage and Security

All data stored on Softmask is hosted exclusively on servers located within the European Union, ensuring compliance with EU data protection regulations, including GDPR.

We implement and maintain appropriate technical, security and organizational measures to protect Personal Data against unauthorized or unlawful processing and use, and against accidental loss, destruction, damage, theft or disclosure.

Key security features include:

  • End-to-end encryption of all file content
  • Zero-knowledge architecture (we cannot access your file contents)
  • Secure file sharing with optional password protection and expiration dates
  • GDPR-compliant data processing

4. Data Retention

Softmask will retain your Personal Data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use your Personal Data to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies.

Softmask will also retain Usage Data for internal analysis purposes. Usage Data is generally retained for a shorter period, except when this data is used to strengthen the security or to improve the functionality of our Service, or we are legally obligated to retain this data for longer time periods.

5. Transfer of Data

Your information, including Personal Data, is processed at our operating offices and in any other places where the parties involved in the processing are located. All data is stored and processed within the European Union.

We will not transfer your personal information to countries outside the EU without appropriate safeguards and your explicit consent.

However, due to our end-to-end encryption system, we cannot access the contents of your files even if required by law.

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), you have certain data protection rights. Softmask aims to take reasonable steps to allow you to correct, amend, delete, or limit the use of your Personal Data.

You have the following data protection rights:

  • The right to access, update or delete the information we have on you

  • The right of restriction
  • The right to data portability
  • The right to withdraw consent

8. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to track the activity on our Service and hold certain information. Cookies are files with a small amount of data which may include an anonymous unique identifier.

Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 16 ("Children"). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 16. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your Child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from children without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.
